The Patriots Manage to Do it Again, This Time With Newton

So many people, including myself, have waited and hoped for the New England Patriots to fade into mediocrity as every team eventually does when their stars age and the game changes. That has yet to happen in the last two decades. Bill Belichick has not only kept his teams relevant and always in contention for a Super Bowl, he has revolutionized the game in multiple … Continue reading The Patriots Manage to Do it Again, This Time With Newton

The Summer of 1998 and its Effect on Baseball

The 1998 season began with a great deal of speculation of whether Roger Maris’ record of 61 home runs would be broken and 70 home runs later, Cardinals first baseman Mark McGwire shattered it with Cubs right fielder Sammy Sosa close behind at 66. The season prior, McGwire and Ken Griffey Jr. were locked in a race that ended just shy of the record as … Continue reading The Summer of 1998 and its Effect on Baseball

We Can Try to “Be Water”

Bruce Lee was by all accounts a great person who did his best to appreciate all people and died far too young at the age of 34. “His philosophy was one of self-actualization. Don’t accept that you are this stereotype image that is cast upon you by others. Find what is worthwhile about yourself and express it.” Linda Lee Cadwell, Bruce Lee’s wife, relayed his philosophy in the ESPN 30 for 30, “Be Water,” and I believe that his thoughts on numerous things can be felt and enacted by Christians in our daily lives. Along with his life goal to break his stereotype, his main belief, “be water,” was an idea that he passed along to others and is one that is echoed in the Bible as a biblical call or roadmap for Christians.
